Citywide Strategic Plan: Our Issaquah
Our Voice, Our Vision, Our Future

Work is continuing on the Citywide Strategic Plan! An updated Vision, Mission and Guiding Principles has been drafted based upon feedback we received during the community engagement phase earlier this year.

Our vision for Issaquah: a thriving and welcoming community, rich with history and a passion for the natural environment.

Shaping a safe, vibrant, livable, and inclusive community through effective stewardship and quality public services.

Guiding Principles

Foster community pride, engagement, strong and safe neighborhoods, and diverse opportunities.

Effectively steward our natural environment to ensure a sustainable legacy for future generations.

Community Prosperity

Sustain a vital place to live and work with a stable and robust economy, civic culture, and integrated transportation system.

Service Excellence

Deliver proactive, efficient, and effective public services for residents and businesses.

Ensure that Issaquah’s services and outstanding quality of life are accessible to everyone.

Community Input
City Council will be considering these updates at a meeting on September 24th. Please share your comments at that meeting or by providing it to us directly by clicking this button.

While our region is experiencing tremendous growth and economic prosperity, Issaquah is in a desirable and challenging position. Our developing urbanism will bring us more opportunities for jobs, entertainment, recreation and services. However, we also face issues of access, affordability, mobility and stewardship.

To ensure our community’s values and vision are reflected in future decision making, the City is creating a citywide strategic plan.

Starting in March 2018, we started working on Our Issaquah, which will be completed in three phases.

Phase 1: Who We Are (Completed)
Engaging with the community and assessing current conditions to develop our shared vision and values.

We heard from you! In April and May 2018, 1,300 people responded via an online survey; community-led meetings; focus groups; and “pop-ups” at public events.

Following a workshop with community partners, the City recently identified six draft priority topics for our future strategic plan:
  • Growth and Development
  • Social and Economic Vitality
  • Core Infrastructure
  • Mobility
  • Environmental Stewardship
  • City Leadership and Services

Phase 2: Where We Want to Go (Current Phase)
Working through strategic priorities to establish specific goals and objectives.

Phase 3: How We Will Get There
Planning how the City will implement its strategic priorities within City departments and the community.
