Citywide Strategic Plan: Our Issaquah
Our Voice, Our Vision, Our Future

Issaquah is a vibrant, growing community that is uniquely positioned at the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. While the Puget Sound region is experiencing tremendous growth and economic prosperity, Issaquah is in both an enviable and challenging position at the edge of the urban growth boundary. Our developing urbanism will bring us more opportunities for jobs, entertainment, recreation and services. However, we also face issues of access, affordability, mobility and stewardship.

To better address these and other challenges and opportunities, the City is embarking on an effort to form a citywide strategic plan to help focus our efforts and shape our future built upon our community’s vision and values. The City has named this citywide strategic plan Our Issaquah.

The City is working with a team of consultants from BDS Planning & Urban Design and ECONorthwest to help update our City vision and values, and identify and align community priorities. The team has extensive experience in municipal strategic planning, community engagement and implementation of strategic priorities.

Our Issaquah will be shaped by our residents, our businesses and our community members. In the months ahead, residents, businesses and community groups will have several opportunities to share your thoughts and vision for our City and community. We hope to engage all corners of our community in the dialogue and we will need your help to do so!

Starting in March 2018, we will start work on the citywide strategic plan, Our Issaquah, which will be completed in three phases.

Phase I: Who We Are
Engaging with the community and assessing current conditions to develop our shared vision and values.

Phase II: Where We Want to Go
Working through strategic priorities to establish specific goals and objectives.

Phase III: How We Will Get There
Planning how the City will implement its strategic priorities within City departments and the community.
