Sustainability

  1. Pollinator Friendly Gardening Class

    May 1, 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ Blakely Hall

Only 1% of the insects in your garden are causing damage to your garden plants. The majority of insects are busy pollinating your flowers or preying on plant eating insects. Learn how to create a habitat that welcomes the different beneficial insects found in a typical garden, how to keep them in the garden and practices that avoid causing them harm. Taught by Laura Matter who has been a practicing horticulturist for the past 36 years, studied Landscape Horticulture at South Seattle Community College and has an Associate of Arts degree from Seattle Central Community College and a B.A. in Botany from the University of Washington. Laura is currently the Garden Hotline Program Manager at Tilth Alliance and specializes in watershed health, pollinator gardening and integrated pest management education.
